Gulf Wreck Fishing
Florida Keys
Gulf of Mexico or Gulf of America (Merica’) however you prefer is a really exciting place to fish. It’s home to a wide variety of fun fish to catch. Most of the time we fish on wrecks in 15-30 feet of water using light tackle spinning gear. This area is most productive during our cooler Fall, Winter, and Spring months. When the temperatures start to drop our water get flooded with bait and predator fish trying to eat them. Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Kingfish, Pompano, and Goliath Grouper are just to name a few.

Family Fun Fishing Trips
The Gulf of Mexico is a great place to take your family fishing. The shallow water makes for calmer seas which translates to happy anglers. We use a wide range of techniques to catch fish in the Gulf on these shallow water wrecks. Live Bait, cut bait, and lures are the most common.

Kingfish Bonanza
When the temperatures drop one of the most exciting fish to flood these waters are giant Kingfish. These are extremely hard fighting fish that are so aggressive they often fly out of the water on the initial strike. We use a lot of live bait to get them to bite but sometimes we can even use artificial lures to make it even more exciting of a bite.

Dinner And A Show
Our Gulf Wreck Fishing trips are great for spending quality time on the water and then stumbling into the restaurant where our boats are located. The Island Fish Company Restaurant does a great job and cooking your catch of the day. You can even grab a cocktail after your trip and watch your captain clean your catch.
Florida Keys Gulf Wreck Fishing (Marathon)
Shallow-water chaos, big-time variety. Our Gulf trips fish light tackle over shallow wrecks and hard-bottom in 15–30 feet, delivering steady action, calm seas, and great table fare.
Seasons at a Glance
- Fall–Winter–Spring (Prime): Bait floods the Gulf; predators pile in. Expect Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish, Mangrove Snapper, Pompano, Cobia, and Goliath Grouper (catch & release).
- Summer: Early-morning snapper bites and select wreck missions when conditions line up.
- Year-Round: When the Atlantic’s bumpy, the Gulf often stays fishable—perfect for families.
Shallow Wrecks & Hard-Bottom (15′–30′)
Short runs, lots of bites, and plenty of keepers.
- Targets: Mangrove Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, Cobia, Kingfish; Goliath Grouper (C&R).
- Techniques: Anchor and chum, drift baits, free-line live pilchards/shrimp, knocker rigs for snapper, spoons and jigs for macks.
- Why it works: Clear, bait-rich water in the cool months turns these wrecks into feeding stations.
Roaming Monsters on the Edges
When conditions fire, the bigger speedsters show.
- Targets: Kingfish (a.k.a. smokers), bonus Cobia cruising the structure or rays.
- Techniques: Live-bait, wire stinger rigs, fast retrieves on lures; sight-cast bucktails or jigs to cobia.
- Pro Tip: Keep a ready rod rigged with wire—Spanish and kings slash first, ask questions later.
Family Fun, Beginner Friendly
Shallow water = gentler ride and less downtime. We prioritize simple, effective rigs and a high-bite-rate program so everyone stays engaged. Kids learn to bait hooks, set the drag, and fight fish with confidence.
Kingfish Bonanza
Cold snaps flip the switch. Strikes are violent—many skyrocket on impact. We deploy live baits and, when they’re chewing, rip plugs or metals to trigger reaction bites. Expect drag-screaming runs and wide smiles.
